We are delighted to welcome Dr Sharmila Kumar (MBBS, FRACGP, Dip Derm, FPA, Cert RANZCOG, Cert Med Ed, AMS Doctor) to our Hornsby practice.
Dr Kumar brings over 22 years of clinical experience across all aspects of general practice. She is passionate about providing a high standard of care and is fluent in both English and Tamil.
Her areas of special interest include:
- Preventative health
- Women’s health (antenatal shared care and peri/menopause)
- Dermatology
- Ophthalmology
- Aged care
- Social prescribing
Dr Kumar holds a Diploma of Dermatology (Wales, UK) and a Certificate of Medical Education. Alongside her clinical work, she is an Adjunct Lecturer at Sydney Medical School and has served as a Medical Educator with the RACGP for six years. She is a strong advocate for excellent communication, shared decision-making, continuity of care, and community health.
Outside of medicine, Dr Kumar enjoys tennis, music, and dance, with formal training in Indian classical dance. She shares her philosophy:
