Dr Sharmila Kumar completed her medical degree at the University of Sydney. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners with more than 22 years of clinical experience in all aspects of general practice.
Dr Kumar is passionate about providing a high standard of care to all her patients and also speaks Tamil. Her special interests include preventative health, women’s health (antenatal shared care and peri/menopause), dermatology, ophthalmology, aged care, and social prescribing. She has completed a Diploma of Dermatology from Wales, UK, as well as a Certificate of Medical Education.
Dr Kumar is an Adjunct Lecturer at Sydney Medical School and has worked for six years as a Medical Educator with the RACGP. She is a strong advocate of excellent communication, shared decision-making, continuity of care, and community health.
Outside of medicine, Dr Kumar is an avid tennis player. She is also passionate about music and dance, having trained in Indian classical dance.
